Skylarks over Ellough

Skylarks over Ellough
by John Ellerby from Lowestoft GB on 08 Jun 2018

Skylarks were flying in the fields surrounding Ellough Airfield (ex-RAF WW11 Bomber Command and RAF Coastal Command) on Thursday this week. They were flying high, singing their hearts out, and perching in the rapeseed field. Skylarks are on the 'red list' , but though declining in population across Europe, are not considered to have yet reached 'threatened' (IUCN website). The 'penny' or 'oxeye' daisy flowers June through to August - a sign of summer
